Claudia Trupp, has devoted her entire professional career to enhancing the quality of post-conviction indigent defense. Most recently she served as the Executive Director of Innocence Project Delaware, working to provide free legal assistance to those wrongfully convicted throughout the state. Prior to that she worked at the Center for Appellate Litigation. As the founder and director of the Center’s Justice First Project, she supervised teams of attorneys, volunteers, and investigators in complex investigations.
Upon receiving her Juris Doctorate from Cornell Law School, Lisa commenced her professional career on the Central Staff of the New York State Court of Appeals. Following her clerkship, she worked for several years as an appellate lawyer in the Appeals and Opinions Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
Deborah Schneer has been committed to ensuring high quality legal representation for the most vulnerable among us throughout her entire legal career. Deborah is a 1984 graduate of New York University School of Law where she was a Root-Tilden Scholar. Root-Tilden Scholarships are awarded to law students with a demonstrated commitment to public interest law who intend to pursue public service.
Marian is pleased to continue her NYS career with the Office of Indigent Legal Services. Since joining the Office, Marian has created an Annual Audit Plan and Procedures. She has been trained in the claim reimbursement process and has been reviewing claims as they are submitted for payment.
Tabassum joined the Hurrell-Harring Settlement Implementation unit in January 2019 as a Research Specialist. She received her M.A. in International and Comparative Politics and Master of Public Administration from Wright State University in December 2018.
Since 2018, Claire has worked at the Office of Indigent Legal Services, where she is a member of a team devoted to the Statewide Implementation of the Hurrell-Harring Settlement Agreement. Claire’s focus is on Counsel at First Appearance, which she views as a pivotal opportunity for defense attorneys to argue for release, gather time-sensitive information regarding the facts of the case and begin establishing a positive attorney-client relationship.

Director
Executive Law section 832 (2010) created the Office of Indigent Legal Services and specified its duties. A Director was to be nominated by the newly-appointed ILS Board, and the nomination sent to the Governor for approval or disapproval. Once approved, the Director "shall appoint employees and perform such other functions as are appropriate to ensure the efficient operation of the office within the amounts available therefor by appropriation."
